Saddle Bronc Riding

Saddle Bronc Riding, a rodeo contestant attempts to ride a bucking horse (bronco) for eight seconds while seated on a specialized saddle. The rider uses a buck rein, a six-foot braided rope attached to the horse's halter, and one hand to stay on. The event is judged on the rider's skill, technique, and the horse's bucking action.

Steer Wrestling

Steer Wrestling, is a timed event where a bulldogger (a cowboy) wrestles a steer to the ground as quickly as possible. The hazer, another cowboy on horseback, helps keep the steer from veering away. The bulldogger starts on horseback, chases the steer, and then dismounts to grab the steer's horns and throw it to the ground. The clock stops when the steer is on its side with all four legs facing the same direction.

Team Roping

Team Roping, is a timed event where two ropers, a header and a heeler, work together to rope and immobilize a steer. The header ropes the steer's horns, neck, or "half-head," while the heeler ropes the steer's hind legs. The fastest time to complete the task while adhering to the rules wins.

Barrel Racing

Barrel Racing, is a timed event where a rider and horse navigate a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels as quickly as possible. The winner is the rider with the fastest time, with penalties for knocking over barrels or deviating from the pattern.

Ladies Breakaway Roping

Ladies Breakaway Roping, is a timed event where a female rider ropes a calf around the neck, stops her horse, and the rope breaks away from the saddle horn, signaling the end of the run. The rider with the fastest time wins. The rope is tied to the saddle horn with a string, and when the rope becomes taut after the calf is roped, the string breaks, and a flag attached to the rope signals the timer to stop the clock.

Tie Down Roping

Tie Down Roping, a timed rodeo event, a cowboy and horse team work together to catch a calf, rope it with a lariat, and tie three of its legs together as quickly as possible. The event is also known as calf roping in some regions. The roper must dismount their horse after roping the calf, sprint to it, and tie the legs. The goal is to complete the tie and stop the clock in the fastest time.

Bull Riding

Bull Riding, is a competitive event where a rider attempts to stay mounted on a bucking bull for eight seconds. The rider uses one hand to grip a rope wrapped around the bull's chest and must remain on the bull's back while it bucks. The ride is scored based on both the rider's performance and the bull's bucking style.

Bareback Riding

Bareback riding is a roughstock event where a rider attempts to stay on a bucking bronco for eight seconds using only one hand on a leather rigging, without a saddle. The rider uses spurs to encourage the horse's bucking action and is judged on their technique, balance, and control.
